I began my career as a fine artist at Elmhurst University, where I received a bachelor's of science in studio art. While at Elmhurst, I had much interest in pursuing a career as a medical illustrator. Yet, I not only wanted to illustrate science; I wanted to experience it myself. 

I later enrolled at Northeastern Illinois University to pursue a second degree in Biology. While at NEIU I furthered my understanding of science communication and learned the benefits of using visual art as a tool for promoting scientific accessibility and literacy. Here, I also had the opportunity to conduct original research with the Voisine lab. Using the nematode C. elegans, I investigated the neurotoxic impacts of TDP-43, a protein associated with the neurodegenerative disease ALS.
